Happy Campers

We kicked off camping season Memorial Day weekend this year with our first trip in the new camper, and we have been off on family camping adventures almost every weekend since then! We haven't made it up to our favorite neck of the woods in the Adirondacks yet, but we have been enjoying finding gems of campsites (and discovering which ones we probably won't ever return to again) closer to home. So far, we have been to two different campgrounds on Chautauqua Lake and to Evangola State Park, which is probably our favorite local campground yet!

Marleigh absolutely loves camping, and gets so excited when we tell her that we're going to go for the weekends. She camped with us last summer, of course, but she was still pretty little and it's hard to get the full effect of camping when you're stuck in a pack 'n play all weekend (or as we like to call it, "baby jail"). Her favorite camping activities are playing with bubbles, kicking her soccer ball, and eating hot dogs for almost every meal. Watching Baby Einsteins, Barney, and Thumbelina on her DVD player in my car on the way to and from the campgrounds is also a special treat, and quite possibly one of our best investments to date! She stays quiet as a mouse in the back seat (until she asks us to change the DVD) and I have a feeling it's definitely going to come in handy when we go for our longer car rides soon!

Speaking of which, we take off in two weeks for an 8 day trip to the Adirondacks, and I cannot wait! It is going to be the longest I've ever camped, so I'm a little nervous about that - especially since there is no electricity and probably hardly any cell phone service - but I'm looking forward to the holiday weekend and a relaxing week in the mountains!

Sorry I've been a little quiet around here lately. Between growing a human in my belly, taking care of our rambunctious toddler, working, and going on excursions, I've hardly had time to do much of anything else! And now Marleigh is telling me she "needs help with a new diaper" (she's supposed to be taking a nap) so I better run in and make sure there aren't any disasters to clean up in there! hashtag - mom life ;)
